Mechatronic Engineer

Prerequisites: Good middle school leaving certificate or equal or better previous schooling
Good marks in the natural sciences
Technical skill
Good physical constitution
Length of training program: 3 1/2 years
(If trainee’s performance is good, the length of the program could be reduced by six months.)
Training program: During the first year of training, the trainee will learn such different skills as manual and mechanical machining in basic training courses in the training and electro workshop.
The trainee learns how to assemble and wire mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical and electronic parts, componentry and devices.
In the second and third year of training, the mechatronic engineer learns how to produce mechanical parts on machine tools and the start-up, maintenance and repair of componentry and devices.
Training language: German
Vocational school subjects: Technology, circuitry and function analysis, mathematics/calculus and politics
These courses are organized as sandwich courses at vocational school between periods of practical training (approx. 13 weeks a year).
The job: A mechatronic engineer can be involved in a wide variety of different occupational activities:
Installing electrical and electronic parts and components
Measuring and testing electrical values
Installing and testing hardware and software components
Setting up and testing electrical, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems
Programming mechatronic systems
Assembling parts and component groups in machines and systems
Assembling, disassembling and transporting machines, systems and production lines
Securing, testing and adjusting functions in mechatronic systems
Starting up, operating and maintaining mechatronic systems
Further qualification: Certified industrial master in mechatronics
Certified industrial master in electrical engineering or Metall
Technician
