Technical Draftsman

Prerequisites: Good middle school leaving certificate or equal or better previous schooling
Good knowledge of mathematics and physics
Ability to think in spatial and abstract terms
Length of training program: 3 1/2 years
(If trainee’s performance is good, the length of the program could be reduced by six months.)
Training program: During the first year of training, the trainee will learn the basics of technical drawing, representative geometry and machine design in our technical training office and basic skills in metalworking in our training workshop.
In the next 2 1/2 years, the trainee will be trained in the field of design and learn, among other things, computer-aided drawing and design using a 3D CAD system. A period of practical training in the workshop rounds out the program and gives the trainee an opportunity to gather valuable practical experience and to put the theory learned into practice to solve concrete problems.
Training language: German
Vocational school subjects: Technology, natural sciences, mathematics/calculus, technical drawing on a CAD system, politics and a number of elective courses to choose from
These courses are organized as sandwich courses in blocks.
The job: Technical draftsmen work in many different capacities in the field of technical design. The technical draftsman completes technical drawings and design plans independently using a computer-aided 3D drawing system. Knowledge of the system components and periphery is essential.
